Vanadium compounds - V2O5 and NH4VO3 - are used as a template to obtain porous silica. Both submicron spherical microporous SiO2 particles and hybrid core-microporous shell particles are obtained in a single technological cycle. Selective etching of the core material (α-V2O5) results in obtaining SiO2 particles with a hollow core. Keywords: V2O5, NH4VO3, silica, micropores, template, core-shell, hollow core.
