Full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor

Graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. Scientific activity is associated with the Ioffe Institute, where he went from graduate student to director of the institute (2003-2018). Currently, he is the chief researcher. The main areas of scientific activity are: condensed matter physics, physics and technology of semiconductors, physics of disordered systems, applied physics and physical materials science.

RSCI: publications – 230; citation index – 1963; Hirsch index – 20.

The prize of the USSR Council of Ministers in the field of science and technology (1983) for the application of the method of transmutation neutron doping for the development of low temperature converter. The Frankel prize of the Ioffe Institute (1996) for experimental studies of the Coulomb gap in semiconductors. The prize of the Russian Federation Government in the field of science and technology (2018) for the development, industrial development and commercialization of technologies for creating high-performance silicon photovoltaic modules and building solar power plants in the regions of Russia. The Ioffe prize of the St. Petersburg Government (2022) for outstanding results in the field of science and technology.

Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences and of the Bureau of the Division of Physical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Scientific Publishing Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Council of Chief Editors of the Journals of the Physical Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Editorial board of “Semiconductors”.
