Synthesis and properties of the LiMgFe2(VO4)3 with frustrated magnetic interactions

We have investigated structural, static magnetic and resonance properties of the new LiMgFe2(VO4)3 magnetic, which is produced from initial oxides Li2CO3, Fe2O3, MgO and V2O5 by solid-phase synthesis. Specific features of the trigonal crystalline LiMgFe2(VO4)3 structure with mixed Mg2+/Fe3+ cations in the same site with a symmetry described by a noncentrosymmetric space group P1 allow existence of competing magnetic exchange interactions with a high level of magnetic frustrations. We have found a dependence of static magnetic susceptibility on sample cooling conditions, which is typical for a spin-glass magnetic state.
