The wave-like damage structures on the entrance surface of optical media, which observed in various experimental studies with nanosecond laser pulses, are analysed. Sometimes such structures appear as a system of straight lines intersecting at the an-gles defined by the crystallography of a sample. It is proposed that stimulated radial scattering in a surface layer of a sample is responsible for their formation. Keywords: stimulated radical scattering, wave beating in the surface layer, plastic deformation.
