Among the diagnostic methods used in surgery, we can highlight time-resolved near infrared spectroscopy and electrical impedance rheography. Both methods are effective for local tissue probing at a specified depth. The optical method provides absolute estimates of tissue blood filling and allows the detection of neurovascular inclusions. In rheography, the measured value of the baseline impedance is used to assess blood flow dynamics and contact resistance. The aim of the study is to evaluate the comparability of both methods for analyzing the physiological dynamics of blood flow, for detecting neurovascular inclusions, and assessment of the feasibility of combined use of the methods in surgical diagnostics: in plastic surgery to assess the adequacy of blood supply to tissue flaps intra- and postoperatively, in cardiac surgery to assess the effectiveness of myocardial reperfusion intraoperatively, and in neurosurgery for intraoperative detection and identification of neurovascular inclusions in the volume of the tumor being removed. For experimental studies, a model of a combined small-sized fiber optic probe with a built-in tetrapolar electrode assembly was developed, and a commercial spectrometer and electrical impedance rheograph were used. Simultaneous in vivo measurements were performed on the hands of volunteers, experimental studies were carried out on homogeneous and heterogeneous gelatin phantoms, and numerical modeling of the detection of neurovascular inclusions by the frequency domain near infrared spectroscopy and electrical impedance rheography was performed. The results of preliminary studies revealed the potential of the electrical impedance method for recognizing neurovascular inclusions, as well as the limitations and prospects of the combined use of the methods for diagnosis in surgery. Keywords: intraoperative diagnostics, time-resolved near infrared spectroscopy, neurovascular structures, electrical impedance rheography, multimodal measurements, numerical modeling.
