Nanopowders of the concentration series ZrO2-(4-27 mol.%)Y2O3-(0.1 mol.%)Eu2O3 were obtained by methods of chemical coprecipitation and hydrothermal synthesis with microwave treatment. Their morphology, dispersion, phase composition and spectral-luminescent characteristics were studied. A comparative analysis of the phase composition of nanopowders and crystals of a similar concentration series, obtained by the method of directional crystallization of the melt in a cold crucible, revealed that the phase formation processes of nanopowders are influenced by the size factor caused by additional oxygen vacancies due to the developed surface of the nanopowders. Differences in the formation of the local environment of the optical centers of Eu3+ ions in ZrO2-(4-27 mol.%)Y2O3-(0.1 mol.%)Eu2O3 and ZrO2-(4-27 mol.%)Eu2O3 nanopowders were revealed. The intensity parameters Ωt (t=2,4,6) for Eu3+ ions for ZrO2-Eu2O3 and ZrO2-Y2O3-Eu2O3 crystals with a cubic crystal structure were determined. Keywords: solid solutions based on zirconium dioxide, nanopowders, europium ions, luminescence spectrum.
