The effect of fresh ice "bleaching" in both the visible and infrared ranges near a temperature of 0 oC at wavelengths of 3.8-4.2 μm and 10-16 μm is shown. The maximum detected decrease in the absorption coefficient of the medium was ~30%. The influence of the spatial arrangement of the base planes of the crystals on the effect, which is maximal when the electric field vector of the waves and the base plane are parallel, is confirmed. Keywords: fresh ice, absorption coefficient, infrared range, phase transition, plasmon effects.
